Local Players, Big Ambitions

The Hornstars 7s story began with a simple idea. A few local players from Llanelli wanted to keep active and enjoy playing rugby during the off-season. What started as a casual idea among friends quickly turned into something much bigger.

“A small group of us just wanted to enjoy the summer and keep playing the game we love,” says one of the founding players. “It wasn’t about competing at the highest level, it was about fun, fitness, and staying involved in the sport.”

Growing the Game Locally and Nationally

Though it started as a small project, the team has grown to include around 28 players, ranging in age from 17 to senior level. While rooted in Llanelli, the Hornstars aren’t just sticking to local grounds, they’re taking their talents on the road, competing in 3–5 tournaments this summer, both locally and nationally, including the renowned Cheltenham 7s.

Get Involved

While the core team is currently set, Hornstars 7s are always open to welcoming new faces. “We mainly look for players who are 18+ and just enjoy good rugby,” the team says. “It’s all about the love of the game.”

Our Sponsorship Story

As a local business, we’re always looking for ways to give back to the community and in this case, it was a natural fit. One of the Hornstars players had a personal connection with our Director Aston, and from there, the conversation about sponsorship took off.

“We’d all heard of Lockspot and their storage facilities, and Aston was kind enough to lend a helping hand,” they shared. “We’re all really grateful.”

We’re currently sponsoring the team’s training vests, which are produced every year or two, but both the Hornstars and Lockspot are hopeful this partnership will go the distance.

“We’re looking forward to building this relationship and extending the agreement in the near future,” the team said.
